Good to know
Is BMI accurate for everyone?+
BMI is a fast screening tool, not a diagnosis. It doesn't distinguish muscle from fat, so very muscular or very lean people can score outside the 'normal' band without a health concern. Use it alongside a body-fat % or waist measurement for a fuller picture.
What counts as a healthy BMI?+
For most adults, 18.5–24.9 kg/m² is considered the healthy range by the WHO. The Asia-Pacific standard uses lower cutoffs (18.5–22.9) since research shows higher metabolic risk at the same BMI in Asian populations. A licensed physician can advise which applies to you.
WHO vs. Asia-Pacific — which should I use?+
The WHO standard is the global default. The Asia-Pacific standard (WHO/IASO/IOTF, 2000) is commonly used across the region, including the Philippines, and applies lower overweight/obese cutoffs. Use whichever your physician references for your care.
Does BMI decide if I can get GLP-1 treatment?+
BMI is one input a physician reviews alongside your full medical history — it isn't a pass/fail cutoff on its own. Take the assessment to get a proper review.
